BEMS
Core Curriculum - Boeblingen Elementary/Middle offers a standard American curriculum with high expectations that students can achieve, and that they will have the self-discipline to do so. DoDDS (worldwide) has extensive curriculum guides and has adopted the following texts: Literacy Place for reading/language arts, Macmillan/McGraw Hill for Science, and Silver/Burdett/Ginn for social studies and health. The math publishers vary from grade to grade: Silver Burdett( K-2nd), Scott Foresman (3rd - 5th), and McDougall Littel (6th). Full day kindergarten classes began at Boeblingen in the fall of 1999. The system-wide testing program is the CTBS Terra Nova test for all grades 3rd - 8th. There is also a Writing Assessment given at 5th grade. Student Honor Roll is an important part of our student recognition program.
Specials - Besides the strong core curriculum upon which most of our time is focused, Boeblingen has a wonderful encore program of vocal music, art, media skills, computer technology, host nation and German, and physical education. We also have various types of special education including programs for learning impaired and communication/articulation impaired students as well as gifted and talented students. Counseling is available for all students. Reading Recovery was introduced in the Fall of 2003 as a reading intervention program for first graders who are behind in their reading abilities.
